Cancellation & Refund Policy

Company: The North Engineer (operating as Build N Craft)

Introduction

Build N Craft, a brand operated by The North Engineer (established in 2025), provides construction consultancy services, acting as an intermediary between homeowners (customers) and vetted contractors for new construction and renovation projects. Through its digital platform, Build N Craft facilitates seamless access to project details, progress updates, and essential communications for both customers and contractors.

By engaging with Build N Craft's platform or services, all users—customers and contractors alike—accept and agree to the terms set forth in this Cancellation and Refund Policy.

Our Commitment

At Build N Craft, we invest significant time and effort to understand customer needs, create accurate documentation, and recommend the most suitable contractors based on individual project parameters such as scope, budget, location, timeline, quality expectations, and contractor history.

Customer Cancellation Procedure

If a customer wishes to cancel their ongoing or upcoming project after making any part of the booking payment, the cancellation must be clearly communicated in writing. The request should:

  • Be sent from the registered email ID used during onboarding,
  • Be emailed to support@buildncraft.com (or any future address communicated officially),
  • Or sent via registered post with acknowledgment due, explicitly stating the reasons for cancellation.

Until Build N Craft receives a formal cancellation request via one of these modes, the services shall be considered active, and any fees paid shall be deemed to cover services rendered during that period.

Service Fees & Deductions

Build N Craft may incur substantial costs during initial stages of service—such as site inspections, consultations, soil testing, design planning, and contractor evaluations. Upon cancellation, such costs will be deducted from the refund or charged additionally if the amount paid does not cover incurred expenses.

Any cancellation made more than 48 hours after payment of the booking amount will attract service fee deductions as per the stage of progress, described below.

Definition of Project Value

Non-Discounted Project Value (NDV):
This is the total project cost based on standard pricing for the agreed scope of work, excluding any discounts, promotions, or special pricing offered. All service fee percentages are calculated based on this NDV.

Stage-wise Cancellation Charges

Stage Services Included Service Fee (% of NDV)
Design Stage Site consultation, soil test, digital survey, concept & floor plan design 3%
Structural Stage Structural drawings, framing layout, windows/doors schedule, BOQ, contractor shortlisting 3.5%
Pre-Construction Stage Elevation drawings, contract preparation, PM team allocation, detailed site visit 2.5%
Construction Stage Resource mobilization to site 2%

Note: These charges are fixed per stage. Once any task within a stage begins, the entire stage fee becomes applicable—partial refunds are not applicable.

Refund Timelines & Mode

  • Refunds (if applicable) will be initiated only after Build N Craft receives a formal request and executes a Settlement and Release Agreement with the customer confirming final payable/refundable amounts.
  • All refunds will be processed within 30 business days and credited to the customer's registered bank account.
  • Cash refunds are not permitted.

Additional Provisions

  • Services not listed above (like 3D renders, municipal drawings, or soil re-testing) will be charged additionally on an actuals basis.
  • If the Master Agreement has already been signed between the customer, Build N Craft, and the contractor, cancellations will follow the terms of that specific agreement.
  • If architectural or structural designs have been completed (or data like digital surveys collected), deliverables will be shared with the customer as per agreed timelines or only after deductions, as applicable.
  • Contractor expenses (e.g., on-site mobilization or material procurement) will be billed separately by the contractor, and Build N Craft will serve as a mediator in disputes—its decision will be final.

Additional Liabilities

  • If the actual service costs exceed the amount paid by the customer, the customer must pay the difference within 30 business days of receiving an official notice. Delay in payment may attract an interest rate of 18% per annum, calculated from due date till full payment.
  • Any financial dues owed to Build N Craft must be cleared before deliverables are shared or any further services are offered.

Policy Updates

Build N Craft reserves the right to revise or update this Cancellation & Refund Policy at any time, based on internal processes or regulatory changes. Customers will be notified of updates via email or official channels, and continued use of services will imply acceptance of revised terms.
